ESOL

 In term 3 of ESOL, we are doing our speeches. What went well was I wrote my speech about my favorite game, but what went wrong was that I didn't say my speech because I am scared. What I could do next time is probably write and say my speech. 

Reflection

In term 2 of ESOL, we learned how to write reading logs, do our book reports, have conversations with each other as classmates, and do our mini speeches. I was a bit anxious about the speaking part however, it was worth experiencing it. I enjoyed doing the reading logs because they were easy to do and easy to understand. What I dislike about ESOL is that whenever it was my turn to speak in front, I get nervous and I don’t know how to overcome it. Overall I learned a lot in ESOL this term and I could use it in my subjects and in the future.

Let's Fight Racism Reflection

In English, we were told to write about one article for our Let's Fight Racism reflection, and I chose The real-life Story of Honorable Al Shaymaa J. Kwegyir, an albino in Tanzania. Firstly, in Africa albinos are commonly hunted down and murdered because their organs are used by witch doctors for use in potions sold to bring wealth and good luck which I found horrible. There is this one article talks about one albino person in Tanzania named Al Shaymaa  J. Kwegyir, a Tanzanian member of parliament. She describes albinism as a "disability just like any other form of disability" however, in Tanzania it's a different story, albino people were forced to suffer and hide for fear of their lives. Kwegyir was born into a family of nine children and was lucky enough that her family accepted her. Sadly, for other albinos, they are often get cast away by their own family, and what's worse, in some tribes they are immediately killed after birth because of their organs which is dreadful. There is this one quote I found interesting that Kwegyir says ‘Everyone affected by racism has a story that should be heard.’. I think this quote is trying to say that every people should realize not every person deserves to be treated badly but to be treated the same way how you want to be treated. This story teaches us the importance of equally treating one another the same how you want to be treated.

One thing to relieve my stress.

I believe the one most important thing for me to relieve my stress is self-management. It helps you avoid being stressed, knowing how to control yourself, and being able to be productive. For example, as a teenager sometimes I play too much games causing me to forget to do the important stuff like homework, chores, physical activities, enough sleep, etc. It makes me stressed when I missed doing something that is important. So It is bad to focus on one thing when you have other important stuff to do. And that's why I think that self-management is what you need to avoid those things.

How is your Self-Esteem

 This week in Wananga, we looked at self-esteem and talked about how high or low esteem we each have. By doing that, we answered a quiz website about how's your self-esteem? Here's the link to the site - Click Me! I found out that my self-esteem was a bit low average, I sort of expected it to be like that since I know that I am a low self-esteem person... What is self-esteem anyway? Self-esteem can influence our happiness and success. But for some people, self esteem can be a fragile thing. It might be swayed by everything from the people in our lives to our own inner voice.

321RIQ Reflection

 This week in ESOL, we introduced ourselves to our new ESOL teacher to be able to know us and then,  our teacher told us to write a 321RIQ reflection of what we did in ESOL so far in this term.

We use 321RIQ to reflect of what we did in our ESOL.

1 Question - 1 question I have about something I didn't understand or still want to know more about.

What we did in ESOL so far is introducing ourselves and telling our likings to each other, by doing that we played a game, in the game we choose an adjective word that begins with the first letter of our name, mine is I so I chose introvert, then we also said our likings but starting also with the first letter of our name, so I chose ice cream. I learnt few of interests of my classmates or friends and also about our teacher. I don't really have any questions about what we did so far in ESOL. And that's about it.

Our Own Treaty Class

In the last few weeks, in Social Study, we've been working on our class treaty. It's like how Treaty of Waitangi was made but our is making good reasonable rule for the class. By doing that, we had to have an agreement whether everyone agrees or not agree on the three rules. It is quite interesting or not, for me to hear them arguing about someone's idea of telling a reasonable rule. One of us pointed out that we should be allowed to eat in class, but in one condition, once you litter in class, you can never allowed to eat in class ever again. Later on I think few of us disagree and others agreed that it's a good idea. So far that's all I had to say about the treaty of our own class.
