- You have fought back once and lost now we can kill your children and there is nothing you can do.

- It is not a bad thing.
- If you win, you will be a hero to your district.
- The boy and girl in the film - big, strong, healthy, fit.
- How they remember their past.
- Don't give detail 'why' their was a revolt.
- Played every year - Gale mocks it - Effie recites.
- So people from the capital believe in the entertainment.

- Powerful.
- Enhanced the drama.
- No lyrics - emphasise her words, adds to the depth of the scene.

- Katniss rebelling against the propaganda of 'their has to be a victor'.
- Voice over urgently saying 'stop'. Katniss has beaten them at their own game.
- First Capital beaten at own game.
- 1st time 2 victors.
- She embarrassed the Capital.

Poor
- Close up - of guy eating everything he could - food is precious - people here are starving
- Car was malnourished.
- Really dirty - mud everywhere - flies everywhere - cleaning is not a priority.
- Extreme close up - Electric fence sign - fence and money to power it.
- Costuming and Setting - looked like they are in the past - wooden - old, run down.
- Minors were going into the mine but were still covered in soot.
Capital
- Establishing shot - of the capital - see the buildings, the grandur - everything was modern - technology - white/clean/crisp.
- Costuming - Fashion and make up really extravagant.
- Close up - to see lady with big gold eye lashes - the pink poodle.
- Gives huge contrast to lives in the districts.
- Fashion is a status thing here - they want the next best thing - represents wealth.
- Capital clothing is for looks - artificial material bright.
- District clothing is for practicality - more natural.

- Smart, reliable - surprised his tributes abilities- smart because he understands that the HG is a TV show.
- Brutally honest - aggressive.
- Witty, cunning.
- Agile - when Peeta tries to get his drink.
Peeta
- Soft - bad or good?
- Crying when he leaves.
- Kind - giving the bread to Katniss.
- Gullible.
- Smarter than he looks.
- Physically strong.
- Socially persuasive - likeable.
- Artistic, creative, cake decorating.
Effie
- Enthusiastic.
- Calm about the HG - Her job.
- Oblivious of the reality.
- Status driven - focus on 'manners'
