What should we know about Shakespeare theatre?

Where peoples get drunk, enjoying, chatting with each other and making friends.

There's no roof at the middle area so when it rains, people will get wet

No women allowed.

They have props, costumes, make-ups and fake hair.

Main Characters: Antonio, Salerio, Solanio, Bassanio, Lorenzo, Gratiano

Act One, Scene One:

1. Antonio is depressed without knowing why. His friends suggest the two reasons.

‘And not bethink me straight of dangerous rocks, which touching but my gentle vessel's side would scatter all her spices on the stream’ (Black P.5)

‘Why then, you are in love.’ (Black P.5)

2. What do you think of Bassanio? A lonely guy who has friend with Antonio and wants to be with Portia.

Act One, Scene Two:

Anotonio is sad that he doesn't know why his sad, and Portia is tired of the world. They kinda talk about the same thing.

Act One, Scene Three:

No, to me it's not the best thing to do. If I were Portia's dad, I would say to her to pick anyone you like to be husband with.

Act Two, Scene Eight

Act Three, Scene One

1. Why does Shylock assume Solanio and Salerio know that Jessica’s ran away? Because Solanio knew she'll run away and said to Shylock that "it's natural for children to leave their parents". Just what I think.

How does Portia know that the letter contains bad news? (Black Pg. 119, Blue Pg.72-3) Portia know something bad in the letter made Bassanio turn pale, and she thinks Bassanio's good friend might have died of what in the letter said.

She straightaway offered herself to Bassanio because he won the challenge chest thing and even though she still love Bassanio if he loses, I think. Why do we not expect this help to be successful?

Act Three, Scene Three:

Antonio is now convinced that he knows the reason for Shylock’s insistence on claiming his bond. Finish the quote that tells us this, ‘He seek my life, for reasons I know well, I oft delivered from his forfeitures many that have at times made moan to me; therefore he hates me’ (Black Pg. 129, Blue Pg.77) 

Why can the Duke not ‘deny the course of law’ according to Antonio? Because it would threaten the security of all foreign merchants in Venice.

Why does Antonio seem resigned to his fate? What two important realisations is this based on? He can't do anything about it because of the law. Two things makes Antonio resigned to his fate is giving money to those unable to pay back their loans to Shylock and the dukes can't allow anything like that because dukes can't deny the law .

Do you think Antonio’s feelings towards Bassanio have changed since the beginning, why? No, I'm not sure if Antonio's feelings towards Bassanio have changed since the beginning

Shylock refuses to consider the idea of Mercy, but demands Justice. Is true justice possible in this case? No, those who are unable to pay their loans must be very poor and really need money to live, there's always a second chance to pay their loans so justice is not needed in this case. I think...

Act Three, Scene Four

Act Three, Scene Five

In his jokey conversation with Jessica, why is Launcelot against the conversion of Jews to Christianity?
Launcelot said that a jew converting into a Christian won't get into heaven and Lorenzo is the responsible why Jessica converted into a Christian.

Her opinion is that she likes her more than she can say and it's a blessing that Bassinio's having a wife like Portia.

Act Four, Scene One

Fidget Spinner

I like to spin a fidget spinner

It is fun, it makes me hyper

 I like to spin like a fidget spinner

But doing it too much it'll get me dizzier

Spinning a fidget spinner makes me energizing

Sometimes I spin it without even realizing

Spinning it is satisfying

I also like to spin it while lying
I want to stop spinning it
But can't do it
I just can't quit!!

Creative Writing Matrix King Of Excuses

In English, we're doing a Creative Writing Matrix, there are many different type you can choose in Creative Writing and I chose "King of Excuses" poem, It's a poem about excuses and I made a poem 'Please don't choose me'. Here it is!

I feel hurt on my knee

I can't even stand still

And I need to drink my pills

I'm bad at soccer

So please don't make me suffer

I'm feeling sick

And I can't speak

I need to go home, I'll be late

It's snowing outside, then I'll just use my ice skate

 In English, we highlights what we feel were already good on something and what we lack and need to accomplish it. The green highlights means what your think your already do well and yellow means what you need to accomplish. 

Workshop 3 - English

How colour used to create the two world:
Predominent - the most
                       - Obvious
Real world:
Colours : Dark/ Grey, Grey, Blue, Green, White
Feels: Boring, Sad, Cold, Lonely, Gloomy, Dull
Coraline's dad is writing
He is trying to focus and she's trying to annoy him

The colour palette is the office is predomiantly made up of blues and greys. This creates an atmosphere of gloom, lonelyness and boredom. This is combined with the use of a cold light from the window. The director has used this palette because in this moment Coraline feels sad and ignored by her father who is too busy working to spend time with her.



Other world:
Colour: Red, orange, blue in places
Feels: Colourful, warm light, Bright
Always night time

In the 'other' office, the predominat colours are red and orange. This combined with the use of a warm light creates a mood of  cheerfulness, curiosity, and safety. The director chose this colour palette because Coraline has just arrived in the other world and met the other father who wants to spend time with her. 

Both: At the end of the film the colour palette have reversed with the other world becoming dark and gloomy and the real world becoming bright and colourful. This shows Coralines changing her perspective as she becomes happier at home.

The middle scene: ( Other World )

Predominent colours in this palette are all bright colours

The colours create an atmosphere of warm lights and happiness

The director used these colours because to make Coraline not feel lonely anymore like in the real world she feels lonely there.

Coraline - Lighting

Shot 1 - Boring, cold, empty, sad, lonely, dull
Cloudy/misty through the window which makes it feel cold, uses a cold light to make it feel like she doesn't want to be there.

Lighting is used effectively in this shot of the real world kitchen to make it feel dull, depressing and lonely.
This is achieved by using a cold light through the cloudy window.
The director has chosen this lighting to remind us that Coralines real world is boring and lifeless compared to the other world behind the door.

Red, White, and Blue
- use when you have several ideas to convey about a topic.
E.g In this image, lighting is used to make the room feel empty, cold, and depressing.

Shot 2 - Warm, delightful, happy, bright, welcoming, inviting, safe, enthusiastic.
Use of a yellow/orange warm light.
Outside is night but room feels safe
Meets other parents for the first time.
Coraline is confused but likes them

In the other kitchen we see more things and a sense of delight, security and welcoming
Lighting is used to create this through the use of a yellow/orange warm light from a bulb above the table. The director has done this to highlight the positive relationship between Coraline and her other parents. Whilst her real parents ignore her, the other parent acknowledge and want to spend time with her. This is re-enforced by the contrasting use of col and white light in Coralines real world.
