321RIQ Reflection

 This week in ESOL, we introduced ourselves to our new ESOL teacher to be able to know us and then,  our teacher told us to write a 321RIQ reflection of what we did in ESOL so far in this term.

We use 321RIQ to reflect of what we did in our ESOL.

1 Question - 1 question I have about something I didn't understand or still want to know more about.

What we did in ESOL so far is introducing ourselves and telling our likings to each other, by doing that we played a game, in the game we choose an adjective word that begins with the first letter of our name, mine is I so I chose introvert, then we also said our likings but starting also with the first letter of our name, so I chose ice cream. I learnt few of interests of my classmates or friends and also about our teacher. I don't really have any questions about what we did so far in ESOL. And that's about it.

Our Own Treaty Class

In the last few weeks, in Social Study, we've been working on our class treaty. It's like how Treaty of Waitangi was made but our is making good reasonable rule for the class. By doing that, we had to have an agreement whether everyone agrees or not agree on the three rules. It is quite interesting or not, for me to hear them arguing about someone's idea of telling a reasonable rule. One of us pointed out that we should be allowed to eat in class, but in one condition, once you litter in class, you can never allowed to eat in class ever again. Later on I think few of us disagree and others agreed that it's a good idea. So far that's all I had to say about the treaty of our own class.

Gymnastic

In P.E, we did gymnastic and each of us videoed ourselves doing or learning one of the gymnast moves. In the video below, I did a stand forward roll if that what its called, unfortunately, I didn't get to video other gymnast moves I did, but this one will do....

What does my painting depict? My subject of painting is from Mob Psycho, an anime...	How did I create the different tones? I create different tones by putting more wash,  or maybe colour on some areas, but I failed doing that cause I put too much wash making it more whiter...	How did you compose your subject matter?  I created my subject just by trying copying the picture, turns out kinda not the same but it’ll do...	Is your subject matter symbolic or does it express an idea?  If you look at him, rage is the expression he's showing, like the black face and the lightning coming out of his eyes...
	How did you paint the highlights?  By painting it with the right wash..?	Is the negative space important in your painting?  Nope, cause I think it kinda doesn’t show the negative space that it's supposed to show….

Road to the Treaty

This blog is about how Treaty of Waitangi was signed, what happened before it was signed. Most of the information here are missing but it kind of make sense....

 1814 - First Mission - Three lay missionaries, William Hall, Thomas Kendall, and John King, helped Samuel Marsden set up the first mission in New Zealand, at Rangihoua.

1831 - Maori petition the British government - Disorder among Europeans in New Zealand and fears of a French seizure of the country led 13 northern chiefs to ask King William IV for his protection. Missionary William Yate gave aid to the chiefs draft the letter to the King and accepted.

1833 - British Resident arrives - To protect Maori, the British settlers and its own trade interests, the British government determined James Busby as its official British Resident. He arrived in May 1833 and built a house on land he bought at Waitangi.

1835 - Declaration of Independence - Declaration of Independence of New Zealand was drawn up by British Resident James Busby without authorisation from his superiors. It declared the independence of New Zealand. By 1839 the declaration had been signed by 52 Maori chiefs. 

1837 - British decided to establish a colony - In December 1837, the British government decided in principle to take place in New Zealand to make sure that colonisation was controlled and that land transactions to deceive Maori were stopped.

1839 - Tory set sails - Tory ( the first of the New Zealand Company ships ) set sail for New Zealand in May 1839. The company had an ambitious plan to settle New Zealand, and the agents on the Tory we’re to buy land at Port Nicholson ( Wellington Harbour ).

1839 - Consul appointed - William Hobson got appointed by the British Government as consul to New Zealand in 1893.

1840 - Land purchases prohibited - Governor Gipps disallowed further private land purchases from Maori, and needed to be recognised by the authorities before buying a private land from Maori.

1840 - Treaty of Waitangi signed - Treaty of Waitangi was signed on Feb 6 1840. About 40 chiefs signed on the first day, by September 1840 another 500 chiefs around the country had signed.

Volcano Research

 This week, in Science we're learning about volcanoes and researching about one any volcano we chose, then after this research, we'll be making a handmade volcano in groups.

My chosen Volcano: Olympus Mons (largest volcano in our solar system)

Where is it?

It's on Mars.

When did it last erupt? 

According to the internet, Olympus Mons erupted 25 million years ago, it could be much older than this and would have been buried by younger lava flows.

Damage it has done?

If Olympus Mons was on Earth, it would be many times more powerful than any volcano on Earth. Any eruptions from Olympus Mons will cause global disaster and it's possible everyone would die without an underground shelter.

How and when was it formed?

Olympus Mons is the youngest of the large volcanoes on Mars and was formed in 19th century according to astronomers. It probably formed cause by a big convergent boundary where two or more plates collide.

Interesting random facts?

Olympus Mons is 22,000 meter big, so it's two times bigger than Mount Everest.

Myths/legends about it?

Has no myths or legends...

Volcano Pompeii ( we did this things to made our handmade volcano erupt ).

- 15mL of warm water

- 25mL of hydrogen peroxide

- 3 spatulas of potassium iodide into the warm water and stir

Tangarroa - God of the Sea

Tangaroa  God of the Sea ( also known as Poseidon ) Tangaroa is the God of the sea, lakes, rivers, and the creatures that live within them, especially fishes. His parents were Ranginui the sky father and Papatuanuku the earth mother. According to some traditions, however, Tangaroa is the husband of Papatuanuku and a rival of Ranginui.  Tangaroa can also be destructive. He can control the tides of the sea.
